Historian
Dennis E. Frye is the Chief Historian at Harpers Ferry
National Historical Park. He has authored five books and
60 articles on the Civil War. Additionally, he has served
as a battlefield guide for the Smithsonian, National
Geographic, the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, and numerous
seminar groups and universities. Frye has been featured
as a guest historian and consultant for PBS, the History
Channel, the Discovery Channel and A&E. He served as
Associate Producer for the film Gods and Generals.
Frye is also among the country's foremost battlefield
preservationists - as an original founder and first
president of the Save Historic Antietam Foundation, Inc.,
and a co-founder and former president of the organization
that preceded today's Civil War Preservation Trust.
