Some of the most sustained combat during the Battle of Gettysburg is waged at Henry’s Culp’s farm. Control of Culp’s Hill seesaws back and forth between Union and Confederate armies for days until the fighting ends on July 3, 1863. Left behind are bodies of fallen soldiers amidst a ruined landscape. The task of burying the dead belongs to the Union army who collects and buries enemy soldiers in mass graves, their identities forever lost.
