The public is intrigued with battlefield photography. Portraits of war are a commodity to photographers who arrive on the scene soon after a battle ends. Enterprising Alexander Gardner captures the aftermath at Gettysburg in photos published for more than 100 years. One photo draws the attention of historians who now theorize that Gardner moved a well preserved corpse to various locations to be photographed. Historians may never know exactly where that young Confederate met his death.
